Help with newspaper advert

Hi,

I'm going to be designing a newspaper advert for a friend's company. The newspaper has sent the following guidelines for designing the advert. Does anyone with experience of this sort of thing explain to me what the column sizes and page depth means? See:

I'll be working in Illustrator or InDesign. It may be a big ask but if someone here does understand the guide i'd be incredibly grateful if you could chuck together a template for me. Advice is also welcomed of course, i'm probably expecting too much asking for the template.

Yes, i understand that. What i can't work out is what column size and page depth mean. Unless i'm being very stupid!

Do you want your advert to cover 1, 2 or 3 columns? How deep do you want it to be?

Heh. I thought it was me being slow. So if i do a two column advert that covers half the page i need the columns to TOTAL 66mm in width. Yes?

Certainly looks that way.

You could always call/email the paper's ads department and ask them for their help.
