Help with old Amd socket question

well i have friend he is prety poor money wise he has AMD SEMPRON 1800 and i have somewere my old pc and it has amd athlon xp 2800 will it work in his socket and is athlon better then sempron ?

Which Sempron does he have? There's no such thing as a Sempron 1800+, but there was a Sempron running at 1800MHz if that's what you mean?
If it is the latter then your idea is a no go because the 1800MHz Semprons were only produced for socket 754 and your 2800 will be socket A.
