I have recently purchased a HP/Sony Ergo 1600 21" monitor from eBay. However, I can't get it to display a picture. My first instinct was that the CRT itself may be faulty, but because of it's age I may be doing something wrong.

At the back, there are two monitor ports:
Port A is a VGA port which I am using
Port B has phono type connectors (RGB/h-sync/v-sync)

The monitor appears to power up fine (green light) and the VGA connection seems to at least be communicating because if I connect it as a secondary monitor, windows detects it fine (HP D2845 Ergo 1600).

Now, one potential reason I thought of is that the monitor is expecting the signal to come from the phono connectors rather than VGA, hence it is not displaying an image. I can't see any obvious way to switch between the two input methods, but there is a sealed off port next them labelled "access bus".

Having a quick google I haven't been able to find much specific about my monitor, although I have seen 'fixed frequency' monitors mentioned. Is there any way I can find out if my monitor is a FF monitor and if so what I need to do to get it working? As the monitor has a VGA connection it never really crossed my mind before buying that I wouldn't just be able to plug it in and use it....

Thanks for any advice.
