I have just purchased 2 x 12cm Akasa Amber Ultra Quiet Fans and 2 x 8cm Akasa Amber Ultra Quiet Fans.

I currently have an Akasa 961 sat on the cpu and a Zalman VF900 CU sat on my GFX.

I am fitting the 12cm Fans as front intake and exhaust as standard but i'm unsure as to which direction to have the 8cm one's which will go on the side of the case.

As you can see, the top one is directly in front of the cpu and the bottom is where the GFX is. Now do I have the top as intake and the bottom as exhaust or shall I have them both as intake?

Many Thanks :)

Hot air flows from down to up so you might want to turn upper fan to blow hot air out and bottom fan to draw some cool air in.

Another thread on here someone said by having side fans as intakes causes a higher pressure inside the case which means there is better cooling

I have also read on other forums that people find having side fans as intakes, they get better cooling, so you might want them to both be intakes

Thanks for that :)

I came accross similar threads and decided to put the 2 x 8cm side fans as intake. It has dropped the cpu temps by 4c and the case temp by 5c so not a bad choice tbh. :D

I have the fan from the psu drawing air out also so there should be ebough exhaust for it.

i turned my two 80mm side panel fans around so that they became intake fans to cool the gfx card.

the 1 exhaust and PSU get rid of enough warm air as i can feel it on my feet when i kick back and put my feet up while reading a magazine/listening to music.
