Help with overclocking of venice and memory

Hi,

Ive been tinkering for sometime with the overclock now and have accepted a low but stable overclock for a while. I decided to try notch it up a bit today but finding a few problems. I have a few questions that need answering but 1st I best tell you my initial setup:

As sig with these settings in Bios:

Venice 3000+ @ 2.25ghz - HTT = 250 x 9, on 1.58v, at 28oC (SL-120 akasa amber fan)

OCZ3200 @ CPU-Z frequency of 160.7mhz. Timings of 2,2,2,5. Divider = 2/1.33 = ~330mhz DDR.

A few issues I need to resolve:

Quite simply the HTT cannot be increased beyond 250, it locks up upon booting. Is this because the chip is locked to 250 or is this a limitation of my cheap mobo?

The multiplier is set to x9. Where is the multiplier normally altered? If it is in the bios setup I dont think my bios supports this option!

Although I understand the ram timings are tight I have found that loosening them considerably seems to have no effect on how much further I can push the HTT up. 250 seems to be maximum, even on a higher divider.

You'll need to reduce the HTT multiplier if you want to go beyond 250, CP.

Yes my cousin has his at x8... I cant remember the exact clock but around 2.4ghz

You see, I dont know how to alter the multiplier. Where is it?

I didnt take note before applying the heatsink. Which program could I D/L to tell me this?

you sure it needs that many volts for that clock?

my stepping- lbble0517 the only way to get it is to look at the chip

The A64s are multiplier locked, you can only change them down. Should be in the BIOS somewhere though. Think you might have the voltage a bit high on that chip as well... 1.55V is about the max recommended on air (I personally wouldn't go about 1.5V).

Yes therefore do x8, and you SHOULD be able to boost the HTT higher...

Well I hope your Mobo allows it.

Nope, there doesn't seem to be anything in there. Ill have to stick with 2.25ghz for the time being and get saving for a DFI

u need to turn down the htt from 5x (1000mhz) to 4x(800) or even 3x(600), as u are exceeding the limit on the bus which should not be much higher than 1000.

Thats right, it may be called ldt/fsb multi on your board

DFI- As you said before

... get saving.. this mobo I have now is alright though (sig) ..... goes to HTT - 300
