Hello guys i just bought my new Phenom 955 the 3.2ghz quad core one (black edition) and i wish to overclock it from 3.2 to 3.7 i have the corsair H50 water cool kit, but im a bit new in overclocking so can somebody tell what settings exactly i should change in the bios to overclock that much, if someone have the same CPU and has overclocked it it will be great help if he can tell me exactly the settings he has change so it works.

In Case you need to know:

Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3, AMD 770, AM3
CPU - AMD Phenom II X4 955 (BlackEdition), Socket AM3, 3.2GHz
RAM - 4GB Corsair XMS3, DDR3 PC3-10666

Thanks a lot!

Your best bet will be to increase the cpu multiplier to 18.5.

So long as you have a decent chip you should not have to change any other settings.

Once you have done an 8 hour prime blend to check stability post your cpu-z shots into this thread. It has been set up to help people overclocking phenoms. People there will help you with the next steps.

Good luck :D

Yep 3.7 should be fine on stock settings unless your motherboard is undervolting like crazy.

Just set multi to 18.5 and run prime blend like mentioned before and tell us the results then we can tweak it from there.

Thanks allot guys I will try to just increase the multi and then see if it boots then ill run a few hours of prime just to make sure is stable and I'm going to post my screens with the results from CPU-z probably by Wednesday as i am waiting for my Corsair H50 to arrive on Tuesday and then i can OC, as i don't want to do it with my air cooler I have atm

This is the results from idle.
I am now stress testing with Prime 95 and will post results when it has ran for a few hours

This is after 2 hours of Stress testing, i didnt leave it for longer as the temperatures has been moving from 49 to 50 for the past hour

50 is quite fine, you're not in any trouble until 62 :) Although there are those who reckon it gets less stable around 55... but that's mostly just anecdotal.

There's already a dedicated thread for Phenom II overclocking on this board, you might like to post your results (and ask for advice) in there :)
