I'm currently running my E6600 at 380FSB x 9, and am trying to push it a little further. I have been concerned with the amount of vcore I had to set in the bios to get it stable @ 3.42GHz so I carries out the pencil mod to my board to eliminate vdroop which worked a treat! I've gone from 1.5V in the bios, 1.448v at idle and 1.360v at load down to 1.48v at idle and 1.472v at load. I've then reduced by vcore in the bios down to 1.4v and tested it for stability which is fine.

My problem is trying to push on further. I tried for 390 fsb but get a BSOD after about ten minutes in Orthos (small fft's) so reduced it down to 385 fsb which lasts 45mins before BSOD'ing. I have also increased the vcore, FSB termination voltage and NB voltage but it makes no difference. I'm confident it's not the board as I've had it running at 430 fsb with an 8 mulitiplier so i think it's the CPU, but I don't know what to change.

Im in the same boat. I want to get a little more kick out of my cpu before i do another upgrade.

I can OC to 3.2 using a 8x multiplier and 400 fsb(ram is 1:1) and all is stable.
OC'ing to 3.6 is what im trying to get to, using the 9x multiplier, but it wont boot to windows no matter what i do with the vcore.
I can do the 3.4 using 380 fsb and ram at 720 but i havent got stability figured yet.
3.4 using 420 fsb and 8x multi gives the same issue as my 3.6 OC try.

I assuming that perhaps iI am missing some options in the bios that might help with stability.
I too would appreciate any advice.

specs
e6600 @3.2 (1.4 vcore)
4gb OCZ pc6400 platinum rev2 running at DDR 800 speeds (4x1gb modules) (2.1v)
Asus P5K latest bios - NB and other MB voltages at auto
bfg 280 gtx (pci express locked to 100)

edit - temps seems to be around 17 to 35 for the cpu and 20 to 35 for the mb
