Hi guys, I want to start gathering the required parts for my loop. a friend is giving me his Rad its 4x120m and 240mm thick, its going to be mounted externally, now with that id like this Bay res https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-153-MO

what fittings and tubing would be compatible with the parts?? my build has lots of blue lighting hence he blue res...tubing id rather have no colour i.e clear

lastly, i have a power colour r9 390... EK do a block for it... which I believe is the same as the 290 variant...is there one in the overclockers store that will fit?? again which compression fittings would i need? as id rather buy it all from here, as I have done with my entire build

CPU will also be cooled so recommendation on CPU block would be useful

Many thanks

Your spec is the one in your sig i take it?

The res can change colour via LEDS, the pump cover at the back is the only difference in the range and when its in your case, its unlikely you will see it (I have one)

Soft tubing or hard (acrylic - looks great but personally if itstyour first time I wouldn't)?

The rad and res are a standard 1/4" for fittings. All fittings have the male end as 1/4".
The other end that goes into the tube has to match the tube so you would need to decide how big that is.
Your case has the 2 ports for watercooling on the rear, how big are they? (presume you will use them)

2 fittings per component, if you want a drain point (usually a good idea) then thats another 2 (10 in total)

Whats your budget?
Do you want coloured fittings (can be hard to see, especially if your window is tinted)?

Just a quick look, will need refining and I haven't put the GPU block or drain point on (but have allowed for them) due to lack of knowledge

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £257.64
(includes shipping: £10.50)

This would give you 2m of tube and enough fittings to connect everything.
The Mayhems tube is new and much cheaper than others, great company so it should be good.
I have Monsoon fittings (chain gun) and really rate them for their ease of use.

hi thanks for the reply, the spec is correct, bar the graphic card, its actually a power colour r9 390 based on a reference design.

Drain point is an excellent idea, id like one.

Holes on the back are 1/2" but can make them bigger of needs be

no real budget in mind. probably in around 400 maybe?

If you get 10mm/13mm tube (The one I have listed) it should fit through the holes without the need to modify anything.

Do you need fans for the rad? I take it you've thought about providing power to them?

The Res will take up 2 bays of your 4, do you have an optical drive? I'd suggest a front bay controller for the fans and temp monitors.

Have you looked at builds using that case?

yea I have an external optical drive, plan was for this controller https://www.overclockers.co.uk/aerocool-touch-2100-panel-fan-control-bb-013-ae.html

I have 8 Sp120 fans ready to go for the rad, friend of mine is helping me with connections for running them

ive seen a few cases but they all implemented smaller rad to fit inside the case, as the top mount doesn't leave much room... hence why i am going external

thanks for the help so far

I'd suggest looking into things a lot more before you take the plunge.

Plan out your build so you know where everything is going and don't make errors.
I have no idea what the case is like to build in and I'm sure you'll have fun with routing (the external holes do not look they are ideally placed for a GPU).

Hopefully someone will help with the GPU block.
Fittings are a personal choice, some people don't want them a specific colour.
Refine everything until you are happy
You can get de-ionised water from supermarkets, Halfords etc...

Just had a google for the gpu block and it looks like it is discontinued.

You can still get it direct from manufacturer though, (EK-FC R9-290X SE).
