Help with PC Build, £400'ish Budget.

The offers change tomoz so we might need to rethink the spec if you don't buy before then.

You have not got a optical drive on your list. Does that mean you managed to reclaim one from the old pc (it needs to be sata remember)?

I would honestly aim for my spec (post #13). The 6850 is all you will ever need to be honest, use the deveopers copy of windows 8 (its free). Makes more sense to pay out for an OS later than change the GPU. You could buy windows 8 once it's released or indeed windows 7 might be cheaper then ;)

oh p.s that Z77 mobo has THX rated onboard audio. I seriously doubt you will need to add a soundcard

Yeah I have a SATA HD :).

Well I basically posted that spec because I was gonna order it tonight before all the offers change :).

Just a quick question though, will that power supply support a GTX460? Because that's what my bf currently has and will be upgrading in the next few months so he'll give me that :P. Then I can give my GFX card to my sister :).

I meant the optical drive hun, or the DVD drive in laymans talk.

What 460 does your bf have? Providing it's the 1GB version this is on par with the 6850. I have a 460 and i actually prefer it to the 6850, that said the 6850 is a good £40 cheaper currently, which is why im spec'ing it.

If your bf has a 768MB 460 i would let your sis have/buy that and you shoot for the 6850. That 550W PSU is fine for pretty much any single GPU

Ah sorry, he has a spare one of those too :P. I'm basically sorted on the HD and Optical drive from his spares :).

He has the 1GB version apparently :), so hopefully he'll get a new GFX card soon (I think he's waiting on a few games coming out) then I can have his 460 :).

So does the spec look okay for ordering tonight? :)

That's what i would order, again i'd stress to leave the OS off the spec sheet.

That 6850 GPU has a 3 year warranty, I don't know what warranty is left on your bfs 460 if any at all. I would suggest that he hands down/sells the 460 to your sis then you both have a GPU of roughly equal grunt. Buying a 6670 in my opinion is false economy
