Hi guys,

A few years back a friend of mine built me a PC. For the time it was perfect but as the year went on it went down hill and now it sits in my cupboard with the case door and a fan missing.

I've been using a Toshiba Satellite laptop for the last year hooked up to a second monitor / pair of yamaha hs8's / presonus audio box + usb turntable and as of lately I've started to want to hit it with a sledgehammer.

I decided I need to get a good PC that can handle all I throw at it.

I'm a little clueless to an extent when it comes to picking out the parts and knowing what is best bang for buck so I was wondering if you guys would be able to help me.

I already have 2 monitors I'm waiting to use / mouse / keyboard / speakers / desk etc.

I'm going to need something really powerful and somewhat quiet aswell (if possible) I need it to run FL 12 / cubase (my room is soundproofed aswell to get the flattest sound from my HS8's) / sony vegas pro (for my youtube channel when rendering videos / unity (I do game development on the side) / live streaming / playing games (I refuse to play Fallout 4 on console and will get it for PC)

I'm surprised I lasted so long using the laptop as it takes 14 hours to render a 30 minute video in vegas.

Any help is appreciated!

a nice X99 core i7 system would be good. or the Z170 based skylake i7.

do you want midi or full tower cases?

watercooled; are you going to overclock it?

Appreciate the quick reply!

Case wise I'm not too fussed at all I'd probably lean more towards a full tower as I'm use to that and would be easier to put together I presume because of the added space?

I'd like watercooled as a friend has his done and it's extremely quiet. Overclocking I personally have no experience with.

I just water-cooled mine with a ocuk value 240 kit which works well. I will put my spec together later for you. There are probably more excited with the new stuff then me.

^This, but consider more RAM if your Cubase usage is heavy.

Unity will run fine on anything these days - even my old VAIO kicking around from 2009 runs it just dandy.

I use mainly Kontakt + FM8 and FL/Cubase depending on mood, I'll look into the Ram addition as I usually have between 80-100 channels depending on project!

thanks for the quick response guys!

Sorry to be a pain the backside but will this build do just fine in comparison? would there be any advantage over one or the other?
I have no issue paying extra for the prettier case and the slightly more expensive parts.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £1,103.94
(includes shipping: £14.10)

What will you be hooking your sound equipment up to, won't you need a dedicated sound card of some sort.

I have a PreSonus audio box interface / soundcard that connects via USB my mic / studio monitors and my midi keyboard is powered via USB so luckily no special stuff needed for the time being.
