Hi all.

Im just looking for a bit of advice.
My mate hasnt been having much luck with his computer, he called me too late lol.
Basically, he had an old i3 computer, and without thinking about it, bought an i5 4690k, found it didnt fit in his motherboard, so board a new motherboard, gigabyte gaming g1 I think, then bought some new g-skill memory and case, plus ssd. He put it all together and found it didnt work, so i went over there and dismantled it and started again, when i found a large number of the pins on the processor socket were badly bent, so because he is impatient (lol) he bought a new z97 gaming G5 motherboard then arranged for the other one to go back after.

Any way, he got it all together, new mobo, cpu, ram, ssd, existing GTX 770 and an evga power supply he's had for a year, got it all up and running, then after a while it switched off, and wouldnt turn back on, the fans would spin up but it wouldnt post, so i went over again, we had the mobo out the case, running with just memory and everything unplugged, and it wouldnt boot, so I took out all the memory and tried booting with just 1 stick (he has 4) and it didnt boot, so i tried the next and it did boot, then i tried the 3rd and 4th and it wouldnt boot again, but then I tried the stick that the pc was booting on and it didnt work, but then I tried booting again and adding sticks in and it finally started working.

Now this morning its doing the same thing.
I've told him power supply, does anyone else know of anything else that could cause this problem?

Cheers, Jason
