Having been out of the scene for some years I need your help. I am looking at getting a system for my son, who is eleven. I really don't want to build, just because I don't really have time these days. I was wondering. If anyone could recommend a decent system on Overclockers which would be a good starter gaming rig, preferably Intel based just because that's my previous experience. He wants to play Minecraft but I think he will soon start to look at other titles and so would like the system to be up to a more intense workout.
I would be looking for a midi tower as space is at a premium and my budget is max £600.00.
I would really appreciate any help you guys can give me. Cheers.!!

Again thanks for the prompt reply. Apologies I know I said I have a £600 budget but could you give me another option that would include a WIFI card and DVD for about the same money, without compromising too much on the other parts. If of course that's possible. Really appreciate your help!! Cheers.

Now I know you didn't want to build yourself, but for the sake of an hour or two of your life, you get a much more powerful machine (£15 over budget; If a problem ditch the optical drive and PM me, I'll send you one myself!)

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £615.78
(includes shipping: £0.00)

If you wanted smaller, for another £6 you could get the asus H110i mITX board and swap the case for this:

Though you'd have to go external ODD.

Take it into consideration, a much faster PC with better longevity. Won't struggle with the latest games on high settings at 1080p at all. There is a huge performance gap between the 460 and 470 GPUs.

Thanks for posting. I really have a lot think about now, I know the story about building and not buying usually equals better performance at a lower cost but I'm not sure I have the patience for it these days. But I will certainly consider it now and maybe the info you thankfully provided will convince me. Cheers!!

If you don't want to build it yourself, I think OCUK will build it for you for a nominal fee. If you want to explore that option, post your basket in the customer service forum and ask them what they do it for.
