hi guys need some advice have been out of the pc building game now for about 8 years! Have finally come back and am looking at building a new pc with a budget of about £1500. Ideally something that will play the odd new game but not just purely focused on gaming i want something that will last me but also give me the option to upgrade as necessary.

I also started to record in 4k but with my current spec makes it near impossible to edit this. Will be editing loads of baby photos too after having a new born so need to build something up to doing all this.

Storage wise i would like to stick to SSD if possible and then a large hdd for everything else.

My current Pc spec is very old and dated and i doubt anything can be salvaged to go into the new build.

AMD Phenom ii x4 955 BE
Corsair H50
Corsair XMS3 @ 1600mhz
Corsair TX650 (Is noisy will need to be replaced)
XFX Radeon HD 5870 1GB
1x WD 500GB Drive
1x 120GB SSD (OS)
NZXT PHANTOM FULL TOWER (Want something smaller this thing is huge)
BenQ's XL2420T 24" 1920 x 1080p.

Look forward to seeing some specs to try and give me some ideas.

Case wise i really like the Phanteks Enthoo Evolv but open to other suggestions.

Here's an AMD build, picked due to longevity of the platform. Intel is likely a bit quicker in single threaded programs but not by enough to warrant the extra and the fact that the platform is at the end of it's life. Pick a decent cooler with the change :)

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,308.83 (includes shipping: £15.90)

Well, if you like that fashion look with glass side then that's as good as any.
Though for its lack of 5.25" bays it's rather big.
(no flexibility/versatility if you want some fan controller etc in the future)

For PSU slightly more expensive Sesonic Focus Plus Gold would be another option with little better performance and 10 year warranty:

With this Antec being basically same PSU in other clothes:

For CPU cooler Cryorig H7 would be well performing for its £35 price:

And currently out of stock Scythe Mugen 5 is likely the strongest cooling heatsink without any DIMM/PCI-e slot clearance issues.

Of course if you want to update monitor to more modern resolution at same time that would need changes to parts/budget.
