Hi, just trying to get a better output from my rig.

I'm running

2 X Opteron 285's
2GB Corsair PC3200
MSI K8N Master2 Far MB

I've been using the GUI for a couple of months and just let it do it's own thing and have just switched to the console client. I set this up as per the sticky in thsi forum and have also installed the EM111 so i could check my points average.

At the moment with 2 consoles running my average daily points is 255. Should I be averaging more than this?. Or should i just go and get a C2D machine?

Any help is apprecated.

Hi, I do have 2 X 285's, the to that i'm running at the moment are a 2124 and a 1498 cores. I have just looked again and my PPD has gone upto 320.

I have 2 X Opteron 285's for 4 cores in total. Not sure if the c2d would outperform. I expected more of a perfomance boost than the one that i have. I started of with 2 x 240 (1.4Ghz) and managed to get hold of the 285's. The next rig will be a c2d i think once i manage to squirrel away some more money.

Yes that me, i only put the 285's in this week. I will probably put anothe 2 consoles on soon. If i can up the production i could always have 2 console running on the OCuk team.

Would love to try linux but i've only ever installed linux once. I have 2 Raptors arriving on Monday so i may install it to them and have a try with the smp console. What would be the best version of Linux to use(and the easiest).

Hi,
there was no real logic behind the rig. Although years ago i was reading a magazine about a dual cpu setup and always wanted to build one. I got 2 x 240's off ebay for £50 and that started me off. The boards not too bad, i did want to SLI the thing but have just opted to go for the HIS X1950 Pro and i'm going to shrow in a couple of raptors to see how that improves the thing. I've not tried to overclock the thing at all at the moment, but i'm sure i will. As i said i'll try instaling linux(suse i think as it's the only one i've installed before) and see what output i get then.
