Have noticed a noise recently which I am trying to diagnose. It is a scraping noise from the engine bay when pressing the clutch pedal. It only seems to occur at 2.5k revs and above (or at least its only audible at those revs) so its almost like something is catching and scraping. It is a short sharp noise lasting about 1 second. Clutch doesnt feel spongy/sticky or bad in anyway and the gear changes themselves are perfectly smooth and it doesnt vibrate or kick back on the pedal when the noise is happening.
Brake fluid levels in the shared reservoir are ok (just below the max mark).
Release bearing has come up when looking around online but would think this would occur at any revs and not just higher ones. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas before I get a chance to get under the bonnet on Monday so I have a few things to be looking for. Its one of those noises where I just want to find out if its nothing really or something as something inevitably leads to something bad.
Car is a 2006 Alfa Romeo Brera 2.2 if this is of any use.
Thanks in advance if anyone can help at all.
