I need some advise on my new setup, First of all i will explain what i have, This only involves my 2 main pc's, I have my file server/Media Streaming center which spec is..

Coolermaster Stacker 801
P4 3ghz HT
Micro ATX motherboard (Asus low cost)
AGP Geforce Fx5200 128mb
XFX RAID 3 Card
5 x Seagate 200gb HDD (in RAID 3)
2 x 300GB Maxtor
2 x 250gb WEstern Digital SATA 2
No monitor as it is just used through the network via VNC and xbox

My MainPc spec

AMD Athlon X2 4400+ @ 2.4ghz
DFI LANPARTY UT SLI-DR Motherboard
2 x 74Gb Raptors (RAID 0)
2 gb Corsair XMS DDR500
ATI Radeon X800pro 128mb
DVDRW
ANTEC SUPER LANBOY CASE
480WATT ANTEC NEO Modular PSU
2 X Samsung 19" TFT's

I run My Xbox 360 through the file server as it has windows MCE installed on it and the 360 can access all the movies, music and piccys i have stored on it.

Now as i have a 360 now i never use my main pc for anything other than surfing the net and the occasional video conversion so i thought it is a bit OTT for that, WHat i want to do is transfer the X2 4400+, motherboard and Memory accross to the Fileserver/media streamer system and put the 3ghz P4 and low cost mainboard in the "mainpc", This setup should be more suitable for the uses of the fileserver/media pc as i will start doing my video encoding on that as well as streaming the media from the xbox.

Do you think this is a good idea, The only problem i can see is that using realVNC over the 10\100 network isnt fast and i would not be able to see the encoding and video playback very well maybe adding a gigabit router and running that part of the network over gigabit ethernet will speed it up? or the alternative is to use one of the 19" screens on it just for this purpose although that will not allow me to hide the fileserver away in a cupboard somewhere.

The last resort would be to get rid of 1 of the 19" TFT's and the newly built system unit and just use my lappie for the surfing and checking mails, Depends wether the wife will mind this though.

Oh and one other question, If i were to transfer the motherboard, cpu and memory from the mainc over to the fileserver will this affect my RAID 3 setup on the XFX REVO RAID 3 card?

Anyway any thoughts or idea's welcome.

Thanks
