Help with printer

What do I need to hook up a HP Laserjet 2100tn? A cast off from my GF's office but needs cables

I did search the Hewlett Packard site, and amongst many accessories, mention of cables appear to indicate "IEEE 1284-compliant, large printer connector (type B) to Standard PC connector" - though far from sure this is what I need.

Exploring the device ittself turned up two sockets hidden behind a removable panel - one large broad slot (certainly not USB) and a networking device with a socket for what appears to be a telephone/network type jack. It also appears to have an infrared port.

Any pointers would be very much appreciated

sounds like you need a printer cable to go to the LPT1 port noramlly a big reddy/purple socket on you pc. they normally call them parellel ports

I cant find one on OcUK but im sure a google search will turn one up
 
Right. So what sort of cable/connecter?

I guess what I'm asking for here is a name(!) ie it's not USB so it must be...

parellel printer cable?
 
well... 30+ views and not a single reply (apart fom JB of course - thanks!)

I'm obliged to go out now & buy a cable from ******s - sure hope I pick out the right one :rolleyes:
