help with problem with mw2 every time starting

Hi all, ive come to my brothers this weekend for the easter holidays and hes having these problems with mw2.

each time the game is started thro steam it says :

"your computer appears to have changed since the last time you ran modern warfare 2. would you like game the game to configure optimally for your new hardware"

there hasnt been a hardware change, we can open mw2 get this message close mw2 restart pc and open and still get same message.

its getting a bit frustrating as it changes everything from resolution to controls within game.

how can i fix this?

please help as im only here for the weekend
 
are you playing the game at a different res to what the desktop is set to? i used to get this with CoD4 for a while but it's so long ago i can't remember what the fix was? i think its just a change in the res thats throwing it up.
 
yeah screen res is set to the same in game and out of game still cant find why any idea
guys
