Hi all, Does anyone have any experience with this set up first?

Anyway, having recently replaced my ram for some OCZ Reapers, I assumed I would be able to overclock my system further (as it was my ram letting me down before). It does, however not by much. Last time I asked, when I was using my old setup granted, someone mentioned something about changing the NB voltages and stuff.

I have got it to 3.8ghz, with my 1066 ram running at something like 959 at the moment, if I go any higher it fails on memtest.

So pretty please helpy me :)

P.S I shall post up some info from my bios later. Got to go to work now....again :(

Yeah. That's very nearly my system, though its on rma at the moment. P5Q premium, q9550, 4 or 8gb of ocz reaper. What would you like to know?

It ran my 1066mhz ram at rated speed, 1.96V, 5-5-5-15 quite happily. Overclocked it to 1140 or so at 2.02V, 4gb, 5-5-5-15. Didn't like tighter timings at all, 4-4-4 wouldn't go above about 850MHz. Also ran 8gb at 1100mhz quite happily, I don't think it's at all incompatible. A guy called ket over at xtreme released a series of modded bioses, I think they'll do you a world of good. The premium has far better memory tables in it, he copied them for the other boards. Memory compatibility improved significantly as a result. I ran one for a while, but sadly didn't do much for my premium.

You've left nothing on auto I hope, and also nothing on the minimum voltage as the p5q treats this as auto. Sata to 1.5V (why this option is there I just don't know), everything else to one notch above minimum, cpu and ram to stock, then overvolt as needed. Ram considered to overvolt by 0.8V, certainly on earlier revisions. I've got a thread on here somewhere asking where to measure ram voltage using a multimeter, never got around to checking.

My one loved northbridge voltage. Really loved it, I stopped while trying to stabalise 3.8 because I wasn't happy going over 1.3 on the northbridge without putting it under water. Loved vcore too, unfortunately. Don't think it was ever a very good chip.

So yeah, happy to help, and will watch your results with interest for when mine gets back from rma

Incredibly detailed answer there thank you! I'm going to like you ;)
I'm not sure if i explained right so i'll try again, in brief.
I would like to get my cpu up to 4ghz (or more :-P) and also have my ram running at at least stock speeds! And at the moment whenever i increase the fsb anything above what it is now, it will fail a memtest. Even while the ram is underclocked!

To answer your question, no i haven't turned auto off on everything but i have on some. Unfortunately i didnt get chance last night for some screen shots etc. So i apologise! I'll maybe try tonight!

Thank you once again for that incredibly helpful post tho!
