I have a Gigabyte Z87-HD3 motherboard and it has 4 slots for RAM. I was wondering since I am using 2 sticks of RAM if there is any specific slots I should have them in? Is it just 1 and 2? or 2 and 4? I have tried looking online for an answer but could not find one so I thought I would ask in this forum incase someone knows which are the correct slots. Thanks

Most likely the slot closest to the processor and then the on second from the end (so 1 & 3)

Edit : it doesn't matter which slot but for dual channel it speeds things up done the way I said before.

Yes that is how I have them at the moment. Lately I have been getting crazy memory leaks and I was just checking I had the Ram in the correct slot first of all. I know its usually 3rd party software that causes them but I wanted to be sure I had them in the right place. Thanks for your reply

The slots are labelled 4, 2, 3, 1 counting away from the CPU socket.

The manual clearly states to occupy slots 4+3 or/and 2+1 for dual channel operation.

If you use 1+3 or 2+4 you will end up running in single channel.

Ok thanks thats where I have them

Tha'ts cool, just didn't want you using 1+3 or 2+4 and not getting the best performance out of your gear:D
