Help with RAM for Maximus VI Hero please

Hi,

Current system:
Maximus VI Hero
I7 4770K @ 4.2ghz + H80i cooler
8gb RAM
980 TI GPU

looking to up my RAM to 16gb, wanting to know what the best kind of RAM would be for my PC Price doesn't matter. Any help would be appreciated! I have looked at guides with RAM speeds etc. It's all got a bit confusing now argh!

Personally, I don't think you need to upgrade the ram, but I'd go for a 16gb pc 2400mhz kit on your setup if I was doing what you're doing.

DDR3. Same speed as your current RAM (if you are adding 2x4GB and not buying 16GB new). If all new, then what James said. 2400MHz is a good average ceiling for Haswell. Some will do more, some won't, some will have to run lower than that.

Also, if you are adding, then sticks operating at the same voltage as those at present, would be ideal.
