help with RAM usage

was wondering if anyone can figure this out for me please. so I have 8gb of DDR4 memory but when I'm gaming only 5.4 of this is being seen by the computer eg. 2.2 used 3.2 free. but in task manager it shows I have 8gb and also in CAM which is what I use to look at temps and speeds etc it shows I have 8gb. only thing I can see is that in task manager it says 2.0 is compressed but ive never had this problem before.
sorry if all this sounds confusing I'm not really a tech guy. thanks
 
ok so I have looked into it more it looks as if I go into task manager and into details and look at what is using my memory is see a lot happening is this the case and want to end task on as many of these I can????
 
If task manager shows the full 8gb, What are you looking at that says 5.4?

Of course you can stop certain tasks running at startup or automatically to free up ram, but that doesn't adress the issue of the 5.4gb reported ram, so we'd need to know what your looking at that says that.

sorry about the big pics but hope these explain better so as you can see at start up I'm already using 2GB of RAM. The second shows it saying I have 8GB in my system. And then last one is my in game display saying out of the 8GB I'm using 1.2GB and have 4.3GB free out of 8GB. ive never seen it say this. Also my CPU seems to be spiking to 100% load sometimes on startup
 
I'm guessing the in game shot is meaning the games currently reserved 5.7gb ram but is currently utilising 1.2gb?

Or it might just be misreporting, the other screen shots look OK.

Other than preventing unesesary start up apps etc running in the background I wouldn't be too concerned.
