Help with rar files please :/ ?

hi guys yesterday i installed a new 250 gig western digital hd in my pc as the os drive,i put vista 64 on.

I installed sp1&2 , my problem is that i cannot open any kind of rar or zip file everytime i try i get the error "the archive is either unknown format or damaged ?

prior to format the files were fine and even new downloaded files are doing this.

i aint got a clue whats casuing this, can any of you help ?

did you download winrar 64bit?

Also, can you make rar files and also unpack them?

ive tried 64 bit it still does it :/ its a weird prob ive never seen it befor , ive downloaded the same file from 3 places and it still does it

Try 7-Zip.

Then try temporarily disabling your antivirus.

i aint got any av installed yet mate :/
i formatted yesterday only got basic stuff on atm.
just downloaded the file again when i open it with winzip or winrar it shows it as no files in the archive ??

Post a link to the rar so we can try and open it (I'll assume it contains goat porn if you don't want to post a link)
