Hi, today my iPhone messed up as I accidentally installed an App/tweak that did not support my firmware (4.3.3) which caused it to always go into safe mode, however with SSH I over came it by deleting the App/tweak that caused it but now all my packages in Cydia are not showing anymore, I've tried googling everywhere for a fix but nothing seems to work, I want to restore my iPhone to 4.3.3 again however iTunes displays an error that says

"The iPhone 'iPhone' could not be restored. This device isn't eligible for requested build."

I tried changing some host file that I was instructed to do on some website to over come this however I didn't have the line I need to delete anyway :/ also tried in DFU mode which didn't work either.

Anyone have any ideas of how I could either do a fresh complete reinstall of an official 4.3.3 firmware, then later on jailbreak, or a major reset of cydia and make it seem as if I have just jailbroken and no packages are installed.

Thank you.

Oh and I have an iPhone 3GS on 4.3.3 jailbroken via jailbreakme and own a mac (for software download queries) if its needed.

Thanks again.

You mean you need to ADD a line to your hosts file in order to fool iTunes into thinking that you are not communicating with Apple.....

Yep thats what I did but it didn't make a difference.
Im just going to leave it how it is until iOS 5 is released/jailbreakable, although probably a long time away.

There is a tethered JB for iOS5 already, but most of the apps don't work and put the phone into safe mode so it's not worth it. I fully expect an untethered JB to go live shortly after the public release of iOS5.
