Hey peeps,

Few years ago you helped me removed scratches from my car , believe it or not with peanut butter...

Someone decided to reverse into my car the other day and drove off leaving these scratches behind...

Any ideas how I may clean them? I am unsure , well I do not believe its to the metal, perhaps I am wrong as I know faff all about cars...

thanks in advance, most appreciated...

Are they actually scratches or just paint that has rubbed off from the other vehicle? Difficult to tell from the picture.
If you can catch your fingernail in them then your options are (in ascending order of cost) : touch in and wet sand, smart repair, respray
If you cant catch your fingernail in them then they may polish out. The severity will define whether you need to wet sand and polish or just polish.
A better pic would help.

Can't be to the metal there as the bumper is plastic.

Maybe its just my phone but I can't really see much of the scratch from the pic - it looks like it might just be paint, t cut is your new best friend for that area

From what I can see there's a mix of paint transfer and scratching there.

Go over it with t cut then some polish with fillers (super resin polish or the likes) to hide the worst of it. You'll not be able to permanently fix what scratches are left without a machine but will be able to make it look acceptable.

If it is mainly paint transfer, don't dive in with anything abrasive as it might not need that much. White spirit and a microfibre maybe all it takes.

If you're not in a rush I could pop over one Sunday and take a look.

My mate's got a Rupes machine so I could compound and polish the bumper if the scratch isn't too deep.

so grateful for all your replies...thank you so very much

ill give it a clean first and then let you know...

No probs, send me a PM if you need any help.

As others have said, it is difficult to tell if that is paint from the other car or a scratch. Start with a clean and gentle clay bar.

If it is a scratch try 'Meguiar's Scratch X'. I've had good results with that on the wife's car after some **** hit it with a shopping trolley. It takes a few applications to work, but I can't see the scratch now and I know where it was. Halfords stock it and also many online places.

If you can stand the dodgy 70's porn music background, there's a reasonable demo of it on youtube.

Good luck.
