Hi ALL,

I have an Alienware 17 R5 C6SBQ12

We have:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4710MQ CPU @ 2.50GHz
16GB DUAL CHANNEL DDR3L 1600MHZ (4X4GB)
NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 860M GRAPHICS WITH 2G

Had this boy for about 6 months till the kids put screen cleaning on the lcd and its not toast it seems. We had a cloudy lcd then nothing. We now get 8 beeps when its booted. Its been into one shop atm they replaced the lcd cable but gave it back. Dell will take it into there repair centre but expected to take 30 days. They also things the odds are the motherboard has gone or gpu.

Am a bit disgruntled about loosing it for 30 days as its my business machine and if they changed the board i still expect the lcd will be cloudey or the likes.

So atm am pondering what to do next. One am bit fed up of dell so not sure if i sure repair this thing. As I cant test to see if the fail is in the gpu or motherboard.

I was pondering if i could a referb machine from msi and tranplant my existing alienware parts?~~

What would people advice it was 1100 quid laptop and i need to do something fairly fast so i can get my main machine back

Help Rus

Just send it back to to Alienware/Dell to be sorted.

If it is your buisness machine, then you have everything backed up that you could use on any old spare computer, no?

Send it back to dell for it to be fixed and take the hard drive out for data protection. Get a USB to sata cable for the hard drive and plug it into your spare desktop for all your data.

If you need buy new hardware you could always turn it into some kind of file server later to back up all your work data on it.

did you not get next business day warranty on it?

I always get that with my dell/alienware machines, well worth the cost.
