Hi all,

Ive just set up the media center on my 360 and my laptop and it seems to be ok....ive added some videos that i would like to watch on my 360...folders and files are added and they show up in the 360 media center bit. But when i go to play the videos...it comes up with an error message saying media cannot play file as the correct codec is not installed.

Any ideas how i get the codecs onto the 360??...is there a special download that i need to do??

TIA

EDIT: Nevermind, managed to work out how to do it...using TVersity and it works perfectly fine....

Media Center won't play any videos other than WMV or MPG. As you've found you either need to use something like TVersity to transcode to WMV or you can play the file from the Media blade and it should then work fine.

WMP sharing doesn't cover all codecs, you will always find things that don't work.

TVersity transcodes, I believe even MKVs work.

Only down side to TVersity I find is the buffering, And seek time, But I've been told on here that's down to your PC's transcoding speed. And so it varies for users.
