Help with speaker interference

Hoping that I am just being a little paranoid but with luck someone here may know the answer for my problem. I currently use the Logitech Z5500 speakers for my system and am perfectly happy with them, as things stand at the moment my main system is half bodged into an old kitchen cupboard to keep it out of the living room so I don't need to worry about fan noise of system temperatures etc.

I am going to be changing this to a purpose built cabinet in my living room taking into account designs for large drive arrays etc as media it's main use. Part of this design I would like to incorporate the humungous beast that is the sub on the Z5500's. For those who do not know the speakers the sub sits in a 15" cubed cabinet, with around 2" additional on the rear for wires and heat sinks.

Logitech are quite vocal about possible interference from this thing as in all their manuals and setup documents they say how it should be kept at least 2 feet away from other electrical equipment. So far the sub has been sat on a shelf with a solid brick wall between it and my pc so I haven't ever noticed any issues. Now building a cabinet with a 2ft gap in it will be annoying to say the least as it will just add lots of unrequired height.

I am considering if I were to perhaps have the sub on the bottom of the cabinet and then have a small chamber of perhaps 6" above filled with something to act as insulation if it would help? My issue is I am not quite sure what sort of material will be best suited for this, anyone any tips on it?

Also I may dismantle the sub cabinet and built it directly into my new system unit, any audiophiles out there able to say if I will run across any sort of audio issues by altering the overall ratios regarding empty space between components etc by putting it into what will basically be a larger cabinet?

Thanks in advance for any help offered.
