Hi,

Im going to try my first new build soon. I used to game on pc back when it was call of duty 2 and I am looking for a new pc firstly for my open uni course I will be starting in feb and secondly to game on.

I'm looking to spend between £700-1000 more to the higher end if it will last several years and still be capable of doing a pretty gd job of whatever new games come out in time.

Im looking to do this at the end of nov unless there is new technology on the way which is worth waiting a few months extra for? I havent kept in the loop for several years all i know from reading forums is the i5 2500k is the cpu to have. Is ati or nvidea the better gfx to have at the moment as I have no idea

Thanks and Im looking forward to seeing peoples thoughts

if your looking to buy at the end of november then you ought to make a thread closer to the time, because prices change so much that what we recommend now could change dramatically by the end of november.

however, i would suggest buying your hard drives now, because there have been floods that have affected the main mechanical hard drive manufacturers in a big way, which means hard drive prices are going up massively

as for which hard drive, go for the cheapest SATA drive without green, eco, hitachi or deskstar in the name.
