Hey there

My sister is looking to get a PC for my nephew to game and livestream from but this is something I have no idea about at all.

Unfortunately money is tight being Xmas so was wondering what the most basic while still functional spec would be. He plays Fortnite and Minecraft mainly but that could change.

Many thanks for your help :)

Why do all the kids feel the need to stream these days? Can't they just play and have fun playing?

To game and stream from with a decent experience I would suggest an AMD R5 2600 with at least a 1060.
You haven't mentioned if a monitor or peripherals etc are needed but I'd estimate you'd be looking at around £1k all in.

Something along the lines of this, depending on budget obviously, 2 monitors would be ideal for streaming but not absolutely necessary and the second one could be a cheaper standard monitor.
If needed due to budget you could go cheaper on the peripheral bundle, reduce the size of the SSD to save money or even drop from a 580 to a 570.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,101.53 (includes shipping: £14.70)

cheap core components apart from the mobo - due to being ITX, Wifi and prop best in terms of VRM

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £661.15 (includes shipping: £12.30)

PSU isn't the best , if you can push to Tier 2 140mm sizzed unit then great, Antec or Focus unit above is an example of this

Sapphire Pulse and Dragon have weaker vrm design then Windforce/aorus cards - explains pricing difference , or in case of rx 580- same price point

kids these days are really weird... Too many have grown up on the youtuber/twitch streamer thing so they all want to be like that.

Guys guys guys ...

Im with you!

This is all a lot of crap ... but I suppose its the new version of wanting to be a pilot, astronaut, rock star, movie star, footballer ... to be seen by millions etc etc

Except all those things you had to be an adult, not a 10 year old

It's also a bit of monkey see monkey do. Kids watch streamers and let's players and think, that looks fun I want to do that. I think kids have always wanted to do this, and these days they can. Which is fine if they are watching twitch streams of people playing fortnite... It's less fine if they are watching some of the worst stuff on YouTube:(

Problem is the novelty will wear off very quickly. By mid-February, they'll have got bored when no-one is watching them and move on to something else. You can stream just as easily on an Xbox One or PS4 with a webcam and headset. OK you won't get all the fancy effects and things but that should be a starting point to see if they will stick at it or not.
