I'm having problems with a laptop - everytime I power it on, it goes straight to the BIOS instead of windows. This isn't a major problem, as you can just press escape and then it loads the os. It's just the inconvinience of having to press escape, enter etc to get it to then load windows. I don't think it's the CMOS battery because all of the settings remain saved okay. In the past I've taken the hard drive out and memory out and then put them back in and that has solved the problem for a short while. I'm assuming something gets dislodged slightly in transport and causes the issue. Does this sound feasible? Any ideas?

This is a weird problem that can just go away..

First, unplug everything and leave.. Take out both the battery pack and CMOS battery, and it wouldn't hurt to replace it if you can.

After a 5 minutes, power back on.

If you still go into the BIOS, turn off boot logo and then look for the "Halt On" setting. Make sure it is set to "All Errors", then try again, this may give you a clue as what's happening.
