Just bought this but it runs really bad, stuttering until it crashes. Ive turned down graphics to high but no change.

Ive updated gpu drivers to the latest 19.3.1 and repaired the game via origin.

Specs are 290x win7

That's a fairly low end card, not by a lot, but at 1080p, it will struggle to keep 60fps with that game. If you dip to low settings, does it smoothen out?

This, also turn off DX12 and disabling the Origin ingame overlay (this one is a culprit).

290x runs this game in ultra at 80+ fps

Yeah my 780GHz played the first one fine so the 290X should do OK in the second I'd have thought as the engine generally runs well on AMD hardware.

Check hardware reserve (task manager->performance->resource monitor then memory tab) isn't taking up tons of RAM as that is sometimes one for performance issues like that though normally you'd see it with other games as well.

Also the game engine doesn't like having pagefile disabled IIRC if you have done that (some SSD tools do it as well if you used some kind of auto tuning).

Windows 7 :p

cheers folks but i turned the PC on this morning and it worked fine on ultra settings (my 290X lightning hasnt let me down yet).

It can only be i did a lot of driver/radeon updates as i was running some pretty old drivers (not had any problems with the games i play) so the PC must have just needed a restart.

Thanks again.

This game ran quite weird for me.

It does some weird thing where it recalculates the shader cache when you join a map for the first time. It would send the CPU usage upto100% making the game stuttery, then settle back down.

Turning the shader cache to off and setting it to amd optimized in the GPU settings helped for some people.

I was wrong, I did a quick search on google initially and must have looked at a none favourable benchmark results picture. Having looked into it just now, I agree with you all.

Sorry for the mis information OP.

It's ok mate, thanks for your input anyway. 290x was a great card and by the looks of it still is. To think I paid £215 for a brand new MSI lightning 5 years ago and still holds it own.
