Hi all.

ive been having a few problems with the pc lately.

all seems fine, except for the odd random crash.

sometimes it seems to stop the hard disk responding and if i change the port on the motherboard that the drive is connected to, it'll boot again.

well its just done it again, although i didnt need to move the drive port this time, it rebooted fine.

This was the stop error i got

STOP: 0x000000E (0xC0000005, 0x0FA00000, 0xB4B4BCA4, 0x00000000)

any ideas what this means? these numbers must mean something?

the pc spec is below:

core2duo E6300 - running at 3 GHz (has been for years now, with no problems)
Gigabyte GA-965P-DS4
8800 GTS 640MB
4 GB Ram

any ideas guys?

Thanks

Andy

Turn down the overclock a little and see if the problem persists also might be worth running a complete memory check. Those numbers are memory allocations.

ok, it seems to have completely died now.

i tried to update the graphics card drivers, since this is the only thing ive changed lately, but in the process of almost doing that (i removed the old driver, but never actually ran the install) it crashed a few times, and i had to switch off.

at some point with the crashes, bios had gone back to the original 1.86 GHz clock speed.

now i'm getting a new stop error.

KERNAL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR

STOP: 0X0000007A (BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH)

win32k.sys - address BF8F776C base at BF800000, Date stamp 4a8564c7

doesnt look good.

i have changed ram, probably about a year a ago, maybe less, i upgraded from 2gig to 4, i still have the original ram, so i guess i'll do a rebuild on a differnent drive, and maybe change the ram back to the old stuff and see how that goes.

the original problem i had, suggested the boot drive, or the controller was causing the problem, so i'll try that first. not sure if i should try and change the ram as well, or maybe just try one thing first and see what happens, i'm more likely to find the source of the problem that way.

Thanks anyway guys
