Can someone with network expertise please confirm I am doing right thing.
I currently have:
Virgin 50MB modem
D-Link DIR-615 with DD-WRT firmware
NAS Synology DS411J
PC with gigabit connection
All works well apart from transferring files between PC and NAS which is slow (5-6 mb/s shown in win7) which I guess is due ti 100mb limit on DIR-615.
So rather than buy a new expensive router with gigabit my hope is I can just buy a gigabit switch such as a Linksys SE2500 and plug my router into that?
If I plug my pc and nas into new switch will they work at gigabit whilst the modem/router still works at 100mb?
Is this my best bet?
cheers
