Hi there. Im at my bros and he has a new tft 22"wharfdale monitor/LCD.

Its using plug and play driver at the mo as i duno if there is a driver for LCD's or not. Its using VGA as he has a aged computer a xp 1900+ with gf2 ti 64mb. He bought the LCD for watching tv and dvds mainly as it has a built in dvd player anyhow i put it on his comp and it looks ok in most part but the text doesnt seem very nice it looks low res or well just not as nice as it is on a computer monitor. The dpi is 96 i think the norm i duno if u change it for these types of large LCD to 128 or whatever dpi.

Anyhow i was wondering if theres anything he can do to get the text lookin sharper and not so crap looking. Some places it doesnt look too bad but then theres some places it looks poor.

So any help setting up this wharfdale LCD on this comp would be appreciated.

Weird looking text is possibly because he isn't using ClearType or isn't running the LCD's native resolution of 1650x1080.

ClearType can be enabled by right clicking the desktop, going to properties, appearance, effects and then changing the smoothing option.

Cleartype i put on but didn't look diff. The res is 1400 x somit that's the max windows would allow to and its at 60mhz.

Hmm just had a look on google for it and it seems the native is 1660x somit so probs that's why then, i wonder why windows wont allow that res then? I think i saw a custom res option in nvidia panel tho so might try that next time im over his.

you need to run the monitor at its native resolution, which is most like 1680x1050. Some 22" monitors can do 1920x1200 (my friends LG 22" for example)
