have you tried overclocking your ram before, as wikipedia tells me both the e6600 and e6350 have a 9x multi, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Core_2_microprocessors i think knowing how well you ram kit OCs may help decide, however personally i would ask to see if anyone knows if wolfdale chips work on the MB as it is not listed on the abit site, im currently assuming it does not, then get one of them if they do. or maybe a new delay the upgrade for a bit to get cash for a new MB and 45nm cpu when you have enough

have you loosing your ram timings as far as they go, will allow you to run your ram faster than its supposed to... within limits.

you can then tighten them when you know your CPU is good, if you cant get them close to stock, then maybe you need to upgrade your ram

That motherboard is not so good for high FSBs - it's pretty much maxed out at 400FSB, so I think you might be disappointed.

just a question but why do you want to buy the 6850? when the new processors 45nm clock really well too and have more L2 cache.

the 6850 costs £176 here on o'clockers. I've just picked up my E8200 & Asus P5KC mobo for £192. not a bad combo for £16 more.

heh maybe I'm wrong and someone will put me in my place :D

just a thought though.
