Help with trip to edinburgh!

Hi Peeps,

Basically I’m having a joint 21st birthday party with a friend. Now we plan to drive there but we are struggling finding a place to stay for all of us. I want to try and keep it as cheap as possible.

We are looking at around 25 people going up and the cheapest accommodation I can find so far is sharing a apartment.

Any ideas?

It might depend on when you want to go there for (i.e. if you can go back in time and arrange the birthday so it isn't at a popular time of year it would be best) but there are a couple of youth hostels in or around the centre of Edinburgh and they will probably be your cheapest options. I'm assuming that the more central the better here?

Thats right, yes.

I think hostels would be the last option with some of the people like abit of comfort... :rolleyes:

I'm afraid that since I'm from Edinburgh I don't know too much about cheap accomodation, there are some holiday cottages near to my parents which you could hire for £1360 per week (4 cottages) and that would sleep up to 24 so you could break it down to about £57 per person for the week. You'd be pretty cosy in terms of living conditions but that probably wouldn't matter hugely, it is however about 6-7 miles away from the centre of town so you are looking at ~£20 taxi fare to split between each taxi.

//edit just checking the prices (and I'd suggest you confirm if/when booking to make sure I can still do maths) you need to pay 10% extra per person for people over the number of ordinary beds so that would be £408 per cottage, making a total of £1632 for the week. However conveniently if you just want to book per night then you divide by 4 so you are looking at £408 for 24 people per night or £17 per night.

21st birthday party sounds like a hostel job rather than a hotel one.

Plenty in Edinburgh. couple just off the royal mile and also on cowgate which would be a safe bet. Google has answers im sure
