Help with trojan.w32.looksky

Hi there
A relative has been running a laptop with no av software :eek:

and now has picked up trojan.w32.looksky.
Can someone tell me a quick way to get rid of this please if possible.
The only upshot is he has learnt a valuable lesson.

Download AVG, update and kill/treat the infected file(s)

avg was playing up when i tried to install it.
He has not had laptop on the net fo fear of all the warnnings popping up.
I did a google search and it sounds hard to get rid of this.

Try Avast!, BitDefender or Avira then all free programs.

Tell him/her to buy av software - KASPERSKY is the way forward!!! Been using for 2-3 years now and 0 problems

You could also run a webbased solution to get rid of the infection like Trend Micro, although you need protection anyway, so it might just be worth downloading one of the free programs listed above.

Hi

Thanks for the advice.The trojan was installing anti spyware software on his computer and trying to access the net all the time.
I left him last night running Super anti Spyware in hope to get rid of it.
