help with tv as pc screen

evening all, got my tv hooked up to my pc the tv is 37LG7000, pc is in sig.
the problem i am having is input lag, i ve tried to up the mouse sensitivity but it still doesnt feel right. i did have my pc conected via hdmi to the hdmi slot on the tv marked hdmi (DVI) but when like this i cant make any changes to the tv setting apart from brightness/contrast etc, at a loss as to what i can do, also im transmitting sound via the hdmi as well as i dont have any other sound system. any help much appreciated

I would just use a standard VGA cable to your tv, then put the sound via a sandard audio cabe or optical if your tv will let you.. I have a HTPC and a very high spec samsung tv but have always had problems with pc to tv via hdmi cables.. VGA always gives a better pictue in my option
 
I forgot to say some TVs specify a HDMI port for PC use this may be your problem.. in my manual its HDMI3 but different tv make. :)
