trying live cd with PIII550mhz pc

gets so far ad get error message

buffer I/O error on device hdc, logical block *

* insert number

I have just installed Win2000 on it to check disk was ok , it is

whats up really want to install Xbuntu on this machine

hdc is possibly your CD-ROM drive. Sounds like a bad CD-ROM or bad image. Have you checked the md5 checksum of your downloaded ISO? It may be worth verifying the data after writing it, or burning at a lower speed too.

cd works in main comp , just realised this machine only has 64mb ram

can i do A network install from floppy or summin ?

i'd suggest using DSL for such a ram challenged machine
