Hi all I want to upgrade my computer a bit the specs at the moment are

motherboard DFI Inc. LP DK 790FXB-M2RS 1.0
processor 3.10 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core
graphics cards ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series [Display adapter] (2x) 512mb
monitor ASUS VH226 running at 1920 x 1080

now i'd like to get away from crossfire as I haven't had much success with this when I play games and go to 1 card but I believe if I go for a lot better card the processor will hold it back a bit. could some one please spec me a processor and graphics card to fit my mother board please if thats the way forward or any other suggestions would be much appreciated

ok thank you I thought as much

on another note do you think i'll need a new power supply for that lot or will the one powering the stuff i have will do?

sorry don't know the power of my supply with out taking the cover off

You will need to start again.

There isnt a cpu to fit that motherboard, so you will need a new cpu/motherboard and ram.

Have you tried new drivers for the crossfire setup? seems a bit of a waste to bin it.

you havent stated a budget? so if you got more or less to spend then let me know.
I have always kept the drivers up to date I've always thought this to be part of the problem but i'm begining to wonder if the 2nd card is faulty in some way but only seems to fail when gaming

as for budget i was looking around the 3-400 mark but if i have to spend a bit more so be it

cheers for that

its amazing how fast you come back with these lists your mouse must be on fire

I hope the power supply is ok it was one of the titan gamer extreme systems from overclockers that i brought about 18 months or so ago

ok I had a bit of luck thought I was going to have to take the computer apart to find out what power supply i have but there was a sticker on the back.

the power supply is a Corsair TX 650w

Yes.

Theres also one more option.

that is put a different CPU into your motherboard and replace your crossfire setup with a single GPU, do you have 4GB of RAM?

once again thank you

I do have 4GB ram this list is what I was hoping to do but wasn't sure weather the processor would fit ok as it says socket AM3 is that the same as AM2 and AM2+?

i would like to stay with ATI don't know why really just feel comfortable with them and know my way round the software with them

the XFX is now saying out of stock the next one is the sapphire at £275

going back to my graphics card & processor would i be best removing card drivers change cards then install new drivers? or is there another better way?

Yes.

hi guys I brought the processor and graphics card and installed last night but now windows doesn't recognise my processor. After a little google it turns out I may need a BIOS upgrade so had a troll over to the DFI website and a read up on how to do it and downloaded all I need. The web site suggests using EZ_flash which I installed and ran but it keeps coming up with "error BOIS does not support AFU" (what ever that is)

so my question is do I really need to update my BIOS or is the processor not working at its full protential and I should find a way to upgrade?

oh yes thank you if only I read things properly I would've seen that it said for Award and AMI with instructions below

I'll give it a go with the USB stick. I like your get out clause
