Hello, i have a i5 2500k
I have a friend that offer me one of these 2 cpu,s for pretty much nothing..

i7 4770k
i7 3770k

i use my pc for gaming only...

Atm i have this:

I5-2500k
Gigabyte z68ap-d3 rev 1
16GB Ram ddr3 1600mhz
Asus Strix rx 480 8GB OC

If i get the i7 4770k i will get a new motherboard(maybe a z97) and sell the one i have atm..opinions on wich should i go?

not really, i think its setting me back a bit, plus the ram its 1600mhz, i
mean overrall this would cost me like 100£ to upgrade, is it worth it?

This is the reason i just went straight to a 6700k. I couldn't stomach paying over £100 for an old 3770k.

No, a i7 3770k and a i7 4770k is gonna cost me 150£ in total, so i will sell one of them and keep the other..
or sell both and get something new... but some people told me that the i7 4770k will be more then enough for gaming now, correct?

Ah ok, not too bad a deal then. You may find getting a decent motherboard for the 4770k a little tricky though. Far less faff and expense to just drop a 3770k into your existing motherboard.

Either a 3770k or 4770k is going to be a good cpu for gaming for the forseeable future.

I think there are certain newer games that are starting to push the older i5s though.

The extra threads of the i7s are now starting to be utilised.

Gaming relies much more on the gpu than anything else these days though. Put your money into the gpu first and foremost.

What do you think of the z97 boards? been seeing some gaming k3 and k5 cheap.

or any opinions on a motherboard for this?
Gpu i have a asus strix rx 480 8 gb OC atm

Hmm, it seems that z97 boards are still available for reasonable prices. Bit surprised at this.

Still, there's not a huge difference in performance between a 3770k and a 4770k.

So I'd still go for the cheaper and hassle free option of the 3770k.
