Help with upgrade

So i have a hp 400g1 it has the I3 4130 cpu at 3.40ghz. I am wondering what cpu of an quad core i5 could go in this without any issues. and would i have to update bios and if so i cant seem to find them on hp website for my pc. thank you for any help...

It should support any 4th generation (Haswell) without a bios update, so i3, i5 ,i7, just not the unlocked 'K' Variants as whilst they may work the motherboard doesn't support overclocking.

So look for a i5 4570, i7 4770 etc etc, devils canyon cpu's should work fine too but may need a bios update.

Carefully place it into the socket and crush it down with the heatsink, you'll soon find out if it works or not

It baffles me how you might think a 1st gen i7 could work, or that it would also be faster than a 4th gen.
