Purchased a bundle (AMD Threadripper CPU, Asus X399-A MB and 64GB RAM)

The case is a Coolermaster CM 690ii (USB 3).

I've plugged most of it in, but just after some clarification before I finish it off and turn it on.

I assume these front pins for case are correctly placed and ok to plug in at the bottom-left of the MB?

24 pin, 4 pin and case fan - I assume this is ok - PSU is a Corsair HX650 (I think) modular

Sata

Audio, usb, case fan

Overview, needs a tidy and some ties ;)

Already plugged in Audio, is this a duplicate?

4 cables
1 is front fan
1 comes off front fan and has two holes - I assume this is for the LED
Red cable, see previous pic, looks like sata - for the connection at the top
White plastic with 2 pins in front

I'm at work now so can't use Imgur, but hopefully the above is a start until I get home

If anyone could point me in the direction of a decent diagram I'd be grateful :)

Polarity matters only for LEDs, you can connect power/reset switches without regard to colour of wires.

For CPU power you should use 8 pin EPS12V connector and leave that 4 pin connector empty.
Old four pin ATX12V connector isn't good for any high end CPUs, for Threadripper it's even less.
And even if it were enough, using more wires and contacts gives always more stable voltage and lower transfer losses.

For audio ports of the case you should use that HD Audio connector and leave AC97 unconnected.
While BIOS might have setting for choosing old (that's year in name) AC97, I think they all use HD Audio pinout as default.

Thanks for the clarification on switches.

I can add the two 4-pins together to create the 8-pin (I hope so as my other cables are a 6-hour round trip away lol)
  • One cable with two ATX12V connectors that together form an EPS12V connector, 25.6” (65 cm) long

Page 2.1.15 suggests 24pin and 8pin is ok, but guess all 3 is best.

I will switch the AC97 for the HD Audio

Thank you, EsaT.

My only remaining issues are:

Case cables:
1. https://www.trustedreviews.com/revi...c-case-coolermaster-cm-690-ii-advanced-page-4
As per the link the thing with the white end (3 gold pins inside) - don't think I ever used this in my existing build
2. cable coming off front fan - white with 2 holes - assume this is for LED
3. cable with a bit of plastic with 2 pins on the front

Motherboard:
https://static.raru.co.za/pdf/6008318-5438-user-manual.pdf
1.1.2
14. The Thermal sensor?

Those big connectors in picture of case are for connecting fans directly to PSU.
Some fans used to come with both standard small connector and that Molex in case motherboard didn't have enough connectors for fans.

If front fan has LEDs then any additional two pin connector is likely for them.
I don't think there's any single PC fan without RPM signal anymore.
And even if fan happened to be without RPM signal (that third wire) it would simply have one empty spot in three pin connector.

Manual of the case should tell if there are other wires.

Yeah, the molex thing is redundant :)

Yeah, the two pins must plug into the 2-hole socket - I must have pulled them apart at some point :)

Thanks again for the help
Other wires I'm pretty sure are dealt with:
USB 3.0
Front fan (fan and LED)
eSata (will use for SSD until I get a bracket)
HD Audio / USB :)
Reset switches etc.

The CM 690 ii manual is "light" to say the least
