Hey everyone!

So I have a PC I built back in 2012, with certain parts being upgraded over the years. I am a casual gamer but am looking to upgrade as I am struggling to play some of the newer titles that have large maps like Warzone even with a decent gfx card.

I am looking to upgrade the CPU as i think this is bottlenecking my rig. To my knowledge this would mean i will need to change the MB as well as RAM.

Below is the list of parts I currently have,

- Intel i5 3570k @ 3.4GHz
- Asus Maximus V Formula Motherboard
- OCZ OCZ750FTY-UN Fatal1ty Series High-Performance 750W PSU (not planning to replace, but will if necessary)
- Carbide Series™ Air 740 High Airflow ATX Cube Case (not replacing, big ol' thing but love it)
- EVGA GTX1070 FTWGAMING (not replacing for now, newest addition to my rig from end of 2016)
-32GB RAM (4 x 8GB) in total
Corsair 16GB (2x8GB) Vengeance 1866MHz CL10 DDR3 Memory Module Kit
Corsair 16GB (2x8GB) 1600MHz CL10 DDR3 Vengeance Memory Kit
*Please don't judge me, i didn't know about the importance of matching RAM speeds, learnt the hard way
-Corsair Hydro H100i CPU Cooler (not planning to replace) I do also have a Noctua NH-D14 gathering dust in the attic, but would prefer to stick with the H100i.

I have just bought a ASUS VG279Q courtesy of a WFH scheme at work, so i will be wanting to be able to game at 1080p 144hz.

I think that's everything. My budget would be around the £600 mark. I'm not going to be upgrading for a while after this upgrade, so would like something that would last me a while, the only thing that I may upgrade is the gfx card if necessary in the future. Hopefully you guys will be able to work your magic. Much appreciated!

if you want to upgrade this side of xmas as the ryzen 5 series suply is pitifull atm :(

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £570.47 (includes shipping: £10.50)

You will also need to source a am4 mounting kit or your cooler

https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categ...et-Kit-for-Hydro-Series™-Coolers/p/CW-8960046

You can upgrade to the 5800x next year when the bios updates are out if you need to.
If you plan to upgrade your GPU to a new generation I would suggest also replacing the PSU as well. It should be fine until you do though.

Thanks for the list and your advise :)

What price would I be looking at for the 5800x if I decide to wait til after the new year? I'm in no rush to upgrade. How big of a jump in performance is there compared to the 3700x?

Is the MB chosen just for budget purposes or is it actually good and good bang for buck? Will it support the 5800x?

The 5800x is going to be about £450.
The 5800x destroys the 3700x in everything. Its about 19% faster IPC as well as faster clock speed. The 5600x destroys the 3700x for almost everything.

The board is good and I was trying to hit your budget . Its also gone up £10 in the last 5 hours!!!!! Its now £99:95!!!

One more question, would it be better to get 4 sticks of 8gb ram with latency C16 rather than the 2 X 16gb sticks with C18?

It depends if your going 3 or 5 series ryzen. 4@16 for 5 series or 2@18 on 3 series.
