Help with upgrading PC for £500

My friend's PC is in need of an upgrade (first gen i3, GT510 I think and H55 motherboard).

All he needs for roughly £500 is a CPU, GPU, motherboard, RAM and PSU.
He has a Coolermaster Haf 912 case, hard drives and a disk drive he can reuse(?)

If the above can be reused, what would you suggest for £500?
