Hello all,

I'm wondering if any of you network gurus could perhaps lend me a hand getting my computer set-up with uVNC? I've been able to dial into the computer locally across the network but have had no success over the internet. I've been using DynDNS to keep track of the ip and have even been specifying the ip address based on the information provided by whatismyip.com.

The setup as stands involves the computer connecting through two routers before going on to the internet but in an effort to simplify matters I've removed one of the routers from the system until such time as I can get uVNC working behind just one router.

The router in question is a Netopia 2247-02 (the other Linksys is a WRT54G2 but we can ignore that for now since it has been removed pending success) and I've forwarded the ports I believe are necessary. uVNC is using port 5901 for the main and port 5801 for http. On the router I have forwarded the port ranges 5900-5910 and 5800-5810 with a base port of 5901 and 5801 respectively onto the computer I'm trying to dial into which has been given a static ip of 192.168.1.8 and I've disabled any firewalls.

Is there anything else I should do or try to get this working?

Thanks in advance, Antar.

I feel so stupid. Finally managed to sort myself out and learned some things along the way :)

It was all down to firewall settings which were cunningly hid under the basic settings heading yet were oddly absent when in expert mode, a mode I have enabled by default :o
