Hi, I am trying to make a very simple game in Flash/Adobe Air that I can use on my Android device. I found a tutorial of a game that I could make, however it is an old tutorial that uses Action Script 2 rather than 3 which I need to use in order to export to an Android device.

The problem I am having (so far) is when it comes to entering a variable associated with a dynamic text, when I try to click the var box in Flash/Air, it comes up with...

So my question is how do I overcome this problem? or what do I have to write in the scripts in order to avoid it? I need to use Action Script 3 to be able to export via Adobe Air for Android.

as you can tell I don't know that much about scripting/coding, so be gentle :)

Here is the link to the tutorial, it has all the files for the final game if you need to see it.

Thank you very much for your help, if you need any more info please let me know.

I am making this game as part of a project for uni, the game is not the main thing but i just wanted something working to go along with my project, so if someone does know of a step-by-step tutorial for a mobile game, it would be appreciated :)

Thank you again.

I can't even click the the var field to enter anything, I am simply following the tutorial and the step I am talking about is step 7, on the first page where you need to apply a variable name to the dynamic text.

Sorry if I didn't understand your question properly :/

If your not too sure what you're doing you wont get very far following that tutorial word for word, as3 within the Flash IDE is too different.

The way you set text on a TextField is to give the TextField an instance name (for example textField), and then in your code do something like textField.text = "whatever text I want";

I'd suggest finding a different tutorial.
