Help with very slow wireless router speed

Does anyone know why my wireless speed is only 5.5Mbps

I changed it to channel 9 and it gone up to 52 ( and jumping back/forward between 52 & 130 )

back to 5.5Mbps on channel 6
jumping 52mbps to 74 to 130 and back on channel 1

Any idea what could be causing this as it only seemed to of started doing this in the last few days

Do you have an android phone? Download WiFi analyser and see what your neighbours networks are on.

Could be as simple as one of them has a new router and it's drowning out the signal from yours.

Steveocee I just tried channels 1 ,6 & 11 again and there the ones that are giving me the worst results...

And if you’re interested in your data security, you might want to get off WPA encryption and move to WPA2. WPA was cracked in 2008 or something and it’s no longer regarded as secure. For a home user it’s not that vital, but it’s still not as secure as it could be.

I got so many things that been connected by wireless (it lists about 40) I lost track if any of them is 802.11b
