help with vlookup

Need help with vlookup if somebody can.

Basically I have this formula =VLOOKUP(A4,SCANNED!1:2000,2,FALSE)

The probelm is that I cannot get the highlighted part to stay as is.

i.e. when I drag the formula it goes consectutively up 2:2001, 3:2002, 4:2003 e.t.c.

Is there a way to stop this.

Copy it all down then right of the cell will be a box click that and click copy.

done that, it still goes up consecutively.

I've tried doing the frist 2 lines as 1:2000, and highlighting both of them before dragging but still goes up consecutively :confused:

Yeah you need to change it after its counted up not before you fill down.

can't you F4 the highlight part?

you need dollars to change them to literal values

=VLOOKUP(A4,SCANNED!$1:$2000,2,FALSE)

add a "$" before the numbers. That should make them stay as they are.
